Scroll down for our Holiday Letter and a HLF financial update!
Dear Library Supporter:
The frosty temperatures and falling snow remind us that the holiday season is again upon us. The pandemic makes us appreciate our family and friends even more, as the tradition of gathering together may be changed or postponed this year.
This is all the more reason to show your appreciation with a meaningful and long-lasting gift to the Hayward Library Foundation (HLF). You may wish to honor a family member or friend, or simply make a gift in your name. Your contribution helps to insure that the Sherman & Ruth Weiss Community Library, our jewel in the crown, continues to grow and provide personal, yet progressive services to the Hayward area and visitors, long into the future.
With a spacious building and nature trail, Hayward’s library has developed into a treasured resource that serves everyone. Realtors report that an influx of people from urban areas are moving to the Hayward area. As the population grows, so do the demands on our library. Job-seekers, telecommuters, parents who work and homeschool, folks who use the free Wi Fi, and those who want a good book or movie all depend on this jewel, our community library.
The library’s success, however, is not due to ample government funding. The Foundation has been the strong fund-raising arm of the library for the past nine years. The library’s life support is the ever-expanding base of donors like you. Today, your generosity has boosted the library fund past the half-million mark, toward the goal of $2 million. Proceeds from this milestone have empowered the Foundation to contribute $12,000 to the library in 2020. Growing assets will help the Foundation to continue giving sizable donations in the future.
As you plan your holiday giving, please place the Hayward Library Foundation near the top of your list. You may choose from many giving options, including memorial gifts, stocks, required minimum distribution from an IRA, or even property, and all are tax deductible. All gifts will help us reach our goal.
The Hayward Library Foundation appreciates your support. From all of us to you, have a blessed holiday season.
Warm regards,
Corinne Bonicatto, President
Hayward Library Foundation

P.S. Please remember the Hayward Library Foundation during this holiday season by choosing the giving option that works best for you.
Our Financial Picture
Thanks to many of you who have been loyal and consistent contributors to the Foundation, we continue to move forward through these complex financial times. We are fortunate that as a volunteer Board with no staff, our annual operating expenses are less than 1% of our Total Assets.
Our donors can be confident HLF Board members are giving careful oversight to the funds already given and invested. As of November, 2020 the Total Assets of the Foundation were $556,887, and we gave the Sherman & Ruth Weiss Community Library $12,000 for 2020.
